Sabres Are Still In
The Buffalo Sabres came back from a two goal deficit with only 12 minutes left in the game. The Sabres fans had so much passion it was such a impressive response for the Sabres with four goals in the third period. The Sabres just shocked the Florida Panthers with a 5-3 victory, to a sellout crowd. The Panthers player gave a cheap shot to Afinogenov after scoring on an empty-net for the last goal of the game and then the rest of the team fought the Panthers players to defend their teammate. The 10 spot Sabres are just five points behind eighth-place Canadians with nine games left. Sabres goaltender Tellqvist saved the day when the Panthers put pressure on him in the early parts of the game.

Sabres Have Tellqvist In Tonight's Game
Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller continued to make progress with his injured left ankle but Miller will not be ready for the game against the Panthers tonight at HSBC Arena. Sabres give new goalie Tellqvist the net tonight, hoping he will be mentally sharp to play the game. The Sabres definitely need a win tonight because they lost the last three games. The Sabres have a big weekend coming, they are playing at home against Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday and playing in Montreal against the Canadians on Saturday. Expect some changes in the lineups tonight and in the future games. The Sabres power play units have to do better in the last 10 games of the season to have a chance for a playoff position.

Goal Tending
The Buffalo Sabres Ryan Miller was back Tuesday morning to see how his ankle feels with a hard practice in net.Goalie Tellqvist is starting Wednesday game against the Panthers. Tellqvist has played well in the last couple of relief games and Lalime has struggled in the last three games. This decision should give the Sabres a chance of making up some ground, which might give them a chance to make 8th position for the playoffs.

Sabres must Win
You could see it coming that the Sabres were going to lose, because it was a 2-2 tie going into the third-period and they have a record of multiple third-period losses. Sabres haven’t dealt well with a few adversities in games. On Wednesday while replaying the 4-2 defeat to Ottawa. You knew a loss was coming again, because they were on their heels. With so many penalties it just took so much energy out of the defensemen. Yes, they did attempt at few risky places to get back into the game. The next chance to win is on Friday 20th when they play Philly the visiting team at HSBC Arena. You can bet that the Sabres will try to be accountable for their actions. These are games they must win!

Sabres Penalty Problems
OTTAWA — Senators had three power-play goals and Lindy Ruff apparently was not a happen camper.
Sabres defeated by nine foolish penalties to turn a two-goal lead into a 4-2 loss to the Senators at Scotiabank Place. The Sabres coaching staff is embarrassed of how the last 44 minutes of the game was played.
Interesting point the Sabres had as many penalties (9) as shots on goal in 54 minutes of play.
Mikael Tellqvist did a good job in net for the Sabres in his first start. The out-of-town scoreboard for the record, Buffalo remains three points behind idle Carolina for eighth place and two behind ninth-place Florida.

He was on the ice for about 20 minutes again this morning in HSBC Arena before the team held its normal practice. Miller has missed the last nine games since suffering the injury Feb. 21 against the New York Rangers in a collision with Rangers center Scott Gomez. Miller will be playing in a couple of days for sure.

Sabres throw away lead, loss in shootout
This was a tough loss for the Sabres on Saturday night in HSBC Arena.
Sabres will be reviewing this one over and over of this devastating 4-3 shootout loss to the Thrashers. The good side of this is it will not happen in the near future, again! Think about it just two little mistakes that’s it. It was a very will played game by the Sabres! You hear people saying they fell apart, (NO they didn’t.)
The Sabres blew a two-goal lead in the final 6:33 of regulation, with Todd White's tally with 3.5 seconds left pulling the Thrashers into a 3-3 tie. It came after Jason Pominville fanned on what would have been a game-clinching clear from the Sabres zone with the Atlanta net empty.
Neither team scored in overtime and seven of eight shooters missed in the shootout. Derek Roy, Tim Connolly, Drew Stafford and Thomas Vanek all drew blanks for Buffalo. Patrick Lalime made three saves before Atlanta's Brett Sterling, just called up from the minors earlier in the day, beat him with a deke.
But instead of making up ground on everyone, the Sabres remain 10th with 76 points. That's 2 behind the Rangers and Panthers, 3 behind the Hurricanes and 4 in arrears of the Habs and Penguins.
On the tying goal, Pominville had the puck in the corner to Lalime's right but White appeared to hit Pominville's stick and force him to partially fan on the clearing attempt. The puck instead slid meekly to Tobias Enstrom, who easily intercepted it and fed Ron Hainsey in the middle.
Hainsey's shot leaked through Lalime and White tapped it home just ahead of Henrik Tallinder.
Things started to fall apart with the Sabres leading, 3-1, and heading for a power play with 6:54 left. Just 20 seconds later, the puck was in their net as Jaroslav Spacek's shot was blocked to create a two-on-one break and Marty Reasoner potted Chris Stuart's rebound to give the visitors hope.

The seventh-place Florida also picked up one point, however, to go four points above the Sabres. For the month of March the Sabres can only now loose Two more Games that's it!! Sabres to make the Playoffs?
I've have checked the strength of Sabres remaining schedule for the Easter Conference Playoff race, with the other team's.In the Eastern Conference standings, about 93,94,95 points gets you placed in top#8 positions. The Sabres currently have 73 points with 16 games remaining, plus Philly's game tonight. That means, 20/21/22 of 32 points need to be won over the next month and a half. In an effort to keep it simple, I have broken down how the Sabres may do this, by winning 11 out of 16 games remaining to be in the Playoffs.

Sabres Trade Pick's
The Sabres have sent winger A. Kotalik to the Oilers. The Sabres had added center D.Moore from the Maple Leafs. Both A.Kotalik and D.Moore will be unrestricted free agents in July 2009. Moore has more points than Kotalik. Kotalik has 13 goals and 32 points in 63 games; Moore has 12 goals and 41 points 63 games at this time, plus the Sabres strengthen the goaltending depth of the team at a good time, acquiring M. Tellqvist from Coyotes. The M. Tellqvist has played 15 games for the Coyotes. He is 7-5-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and .907 save percentage. The addition of a goalie was anticipated. Starter goal tender R. Miller is out indefinitely with a sprained ankle [was this a hair raiser] this close to the play-offs for something like this to happen. P. Lalime has performed very well [8 goals against him in 5 games]in Miller's absence, but an injury or illness [he had the flu in the first two games]to P.Lalime would leave the crease to rookie Jhonas Enroth, who has never played an NHL game.
