Sabres Spacek Gone

The Sabres said they tried to keep defenseman Jaro Spacek, now they'll have to face him in the Northeast Divsion.

The Sabres free agent defenseman agreed to a deal with the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday afternoon - the first day of the NHL signing period.

Terms were not immediately available but Canadian network TSN reports the deal is for three years and $11.5 million.

Spacek played the last three seasons in Sabres scoring 24-goals and adding 76-assists.
